Wednesday 16th May 2012

Our patchwork day, Wednesday 16th May went ahead at a last minute change of venue.               Show and Tell was brought along by Patty. She has been busy cleaning out her cupboards. She has a reputation for being a hoarder, but she has been reworking some of her hoarded articles. She could tell you the origins of each of these flannelette squares in these shaggy quilts. She has 3 daughters all grown up now, so she has turned their nighties and pyjamas into a shaggy quilt and bath mat. As she said " I have really got back to the grass roots in patchwork with these"

Having more spare time on her hands, she found some more unfinished items and went ahead and experimented. These 2 samples were of a machine embroidery tecnhique. The flower is shadowed with tulle and is very effective. The circles are a set embroidery stitch on her machine with a  foot that allows you to sew in a circle.
Machine applique and free motion stippling.
We shared a cake for morning tea brought along by the birthday girl, Kath. She brought her lovely granddaughter along to share the morning with us as well.

Next patchwork day will see a change of date. PLEASE NOTE in your diary, Friday 15 June.Yes, we know it is the day before some of us are attending the workshops in Gayndah, so we thought 3 patchwork days in a  row, BLISS.

Wednesday the 13th June is Mt Perry QCWA knitting and crochet competeition day and HOY in their QCWA Rooms commencing @ 9 am. More details available from Sandra.

Next patchwork day will also see Patty doing a tutorial on photo transfer to fabric. So start selecting your favourite photo to print onto fabric. Hope to see you all there.
