Better Late than Never

Seems I'm always just scraping in with pics from our last patchwork day just before our next day is upon us. Thems the breaks as everyone seems to be always searching for that little extra time.

Fay and Margaret brought along their star quilts from our retreat weekend at Gayndah ... looking stunning girls!

Kerry and Narelle also brought along their retreat quilts to share ... from scraps to scrumptious!

Ruth W continued to work on her basket blocks and Margaret J was busily knitted but somehow both missed the camera action. We also had visitors galore with Margaret F, Patty and Kath popping in to say hello. More visitors through the door also when family who were staying at the local caravan park strolled down for a peak at our patchwork party.

Next patchwork day is this coming Monday 1st September ... how did that come about sooooo quickly?! Catch you there and if we're not in our usual spot in the hall, take a wander across to the cultural centre.

If you're at the council office or library, take a look at our 4 Friendship Round Robin pieces currently on display in the library.

Freezing in July Part 2

Found these action shots of some of our members, when they were freezing in July at the Gayndah weekend workshops.

Must have been cold, how did you get your fingers to co-operate ?

Included this one as she has a connection to us and just loves cutting, sewing and ironing bits of fabric instead of ironing her clothes. Come along to see the Show and Tell, Monday 4th August.

Frozen in July

We expect to be cold in July but patchwork day was particularly freezing with a breezy cold snap that had us heading for the warm sunny doorway at lunchtime.

Margaret J timed a visit with her daughter and joined in for the day. Margaret takes part in a postcard swap and brought along her gorgeous collection to show and tell.

Her day was very productive with these 6 lovely cards finished and ready to gift.

Margaret F has been busy putting her new skills to practice on her embroidery machine.

This stunning blue runner was sewn by Kerry who has been busy sewing with these lovely border fabrics.

Fay will be putting a smile on a young man's face with this great wall hanging.

Narelle took advantage of having her mother visiting, and dug out this crochet knee rug she started a few years ago.

Ruth W continued working on her Mariners' Compass quilt and did a little visiting around town while she was over.

Fay, Margaret F, Kerry and Narelle are heading off to Gayndah for a weekend sewing retreat while Di and Ruth enjoyed a week in Adelaide attending sewing workshops.  We all look forward to show and tell from these girls when we next meet on August 4 ... let's hope it's a lot warmer too.

Where Are We?

You may be excused for thinking we've disappeared but I can assure you we are still here and still stitching and sewing and creating up a storm.  Busy schedules tend to interfere sometimes more often than we like and we don't always get to enjoy the day out with the girls at patchwork. Those who can always have an enjoyable day chatting and sewing and of course a cuppa or two.

Our March day rolled around and I believe some sewing progress was made but photos can be somewhat elusive.  Yesterday was our April get together and who forgot to take a camera?  Never mind ... Narelle and Fay caught up with Di and her lovely friend Ruth who was working on the most beautiful floral applique. Di and Fay had their sewing machines whirring away piecing and Narelle was steadily working on a needle turn applique. Kerry was able to join us after lunch and get a little more done on a lovely crochet rug.

Our afternoon wrapped up a little early as we were off down the road for a yummy piece of cheese cake and a nice cuppa to end off our day.

A post without a photo can look a bit quiet so here is Narelle's new time distraction.

There a few dates to look forward to so click on the "WHAT'S ON" tab at the top and check out the up-coming events, dates and details. Don't forget Mount Perry Show this Saturday, April 19.

Our next date is Monday May 12. So hoping that the sewing fairies can work their magic and we can all get together then.

February Come Back!

Oops!  Terribly sorry but February ran right past me and I have been very neglect at getting our pics from the February patchwork day in a post so without further todo ....

Ruth had her work cut out machine quilting around each little circle but the end result is spot-on!

Di has been a busy girl with beautiful projects to share.

Fay is trying her hand at English Paper Piecing with gorgeous results.

Narelle stitched a little on this moody hen and completed the stitching only this week.

Margaret has also had her embroidery machine busy stitching up these lovelies.

Won't be long and the 17th of March will be on our doorstep. Hope to see everyone there ... maybe a little challenge for each of us.  Do you notice something about our next patchwork date. How about wearing or bringing along a little something GREEN.

January 20 2014

It's time to begin for 2014 or should we wait until the heat of summer is passed? We met again in the Hall for a day of sewing on Monday 20th January. It was also a day of sweating, who makes quilts in the middle of an Australian summer? Small projects seem to be better suited to our current hot, dry climate.
Here is Di's small lunch bag she made over the New Year Break.
Lunch Bag

Not a Lunch Bag, but an Iron and Ironing Mat. Now on everyone else's agenda.
Margaret's Table Center in progress

Margaret's Christmas Sewing, gifts for the family in New Zealand.

Di's half chenille mat for her grandson. Only 3 layers of fabric in the chenille as she did not want it too thick.
Ruth finished the 2nd grandbaby quilt just 27hrs before she arrived into the world.
Here is the first one being used back in July 2013.Still on  the subject of grandchildren,

On my way home from patchwork I went via Mundubbera and visited the new grandbaby's Great Grandparents to be greeted with these creative gates.

There is a 3rd great grandbaby arriving in June, I wonder what colour this one will be?

Back to our sewing days, next month's date has not been finalised as we are still confirming it with our working girls. We will post the information here or email you all. Ruth
